ECONOMIC DICTATOR. i)R FUNK’S POWERS \ ■ NAZI RESOURCES POOLED. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received December 23, 8.5 a.m. BERLIN, Dec. 22. A virtual economic dictatorship lias been entrusted to Dr Funk (Minister of Economics), in an endeavour to check the rapid drift towards the paralysis of industry resulting from the acute labour shortage and lack of raw materials. His duties are now those of combined Minister of Labour, Supply, and Economics under new arrangements by which trade and production are nationalised and unified, and all the resources are pooled.
-Dr Funk is empowered to divert any proportion of trade in favour of a single producer in industry needing support; also, he controls the distribution of labour and raw materials Though not State-owned, German undertakings are bound hand and foot with the Government’s policy, regarding which Dr Funk is initially concerned with the practical administration of the Four-Year Plan, while Field-Marshal Goering is evolving the basic principles of economic readjustment.
