SHIPPING OUTLOOK.
DUKE OF KENT’S HOPES. Received December 23 8.5 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 22. The D»ke of Kent, presiding at the council meeting of the King 6 Fund for Sailors, said : I was a trifle over-optimistic last year when 1 said that the shipping outlook was more cheerful. Thereafter we experienced a most difficult time, yet p, and believe the situation will shortly improve as. trade is increasing, confident that when I next presidewhich will not be for some years owing to my visit to Australia—l will find a degree of prosperity firm y established.” The Duke added that the fund had completed 21 years work for seamen.
