FARM HOLIDAYS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Re farm holidays, your footnote says an employer is not bound to give * holidays on Christmas, New Year’s Day, Boxing Day, or any holiday. No wonder there is a shortage of farm labour now. One can’t get away from milking the cows and attending to the feeding of animals any day during the season, either tor employer or employee, but they can take it in turns. What is the holiday allowed during each month ? Is the worker entitled to only part of a day off once a month or do tlie 28 days apply? Again what is the young farmer’s social position? He boards with his employer, and in most places sleeps out in an old shed away from the house. Does he spend his evenings if he is not too tired to go out. miles to town, etc. —with his employer’s family by tlvi fire, and able to listen to the wireless, or has lie to stay by himself in liis room? It applies the same to the boarding of a school teacher. Each party must show consideration towards the other if harmony is expected.—l am, etc., ' STILL CURIOUS.
