GIFT TO PREMIER.
FROAI CABINET AIEMBERS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 22. The work of Cabinet for this year will virtually end to-morrow, by which time most of the Alinisters will have left AA’ellihgton for a short vacation. One or two of them are postponing their departure till the week-end or early next week. The Prime Alinister (Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) will be reremaining in AA’ellington, but, like everyone else who has the'opportunity, he intends to take things easy over the holiday period. Alembers of . Cabinet in Wellington to-day ’met Air Savage and made him a presentation of a-set of crystal from his Alinisterial colleagues. They asked the Prime Minister’s acceptance of this gift as a token of appreciation of his comradely qualities, coupled with their utmost confidence in his leadership. Alinisters assured Air Savage that the burdens of office were made easier by reason of his pleasing personality and sound judgment, and his determination to look after the interests of the people. It was, they said, a pleasure to serve under him. In making the presentation, the Minister of Education (Hon. P. Fraser) said the gift symbolised the goodwill felt by Alinisters toward Air Savage. On behalf of the Ministry lie wished Air Savage a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. Air Savage cxpi-essed keen appreciation of the gift, and said that no one could wish for more loyal colleagues. His task was made easier by reason of their help and encouragement.
