BARMAIDS OBJECT.

~ HANGING OF MISTLETOE. LONDON, Dec. 16. Barmaids object to the hanging of mistletoe in bar-rooms, because they dislike being kissed under it at Christmas. The barmaids’ representative on the Transport and General Workers’ Union -(W. C. Rawlinson) made this statement’at a union conference. “Many good, clean, honest women behind bars are dragged forward to be kissed by stupid, drunken men,” he declared. He argued that the barmaids were already subjected to additional work and humiliations on the excuse of the “Christmas spirit.” The conference passed a resolution favouring an attempt to secure additional wages for Christpias work.
