HOPE ABANDONED.
BRISBANE, Aug. 27. The finding of a drum of petrol from the Dorisana, which was recently reported missing, appears to • put beyond any doubt the fate of the launch, and hope of finding the Armitage family and Mr Leslie Brake has been abandoned.
A message on August 22 stated that it was feared that the Dorisana, which left Mackay for Percy Island a fortnight ago, "had foundered in a storm. On board were: Mr Percy Armitage, his wife and two children, aged 8 and 10 years; and Mr Leslie Brake, an adult. A search by the steamer Canonbar, six launches, and three aeroplanes failed to find any trace of the Dorisqna.
