RUAPEHU CLUB’S RACES. Per Press Association. THE CHATEAU, Aug. 26. The Ruapehu Ski Club’s championship events were held to-day. The jump was held late in the morning on a jump erected behind the club hut at 6000 ft. Judging was done by Messrs Ernst Skadarasv and N. A. Campbell, president of the club. The event was won by R. S. Duncan, Nelson, who made three standing jumps of approximated 38fb. S. Bailey, Auckland, was second. Skadarasy then jumped and made an exceptional leap for the particular hill of 70ft. The afternoon was occupied by women’s and men’s novice races. Miss S. Storey won the former with Miss Fuller (Christchurch) second, and R. A. Krebs (Napier), the latter, with S J. Coutts (Auckland) second. The final race was the roped pairs, in which the competitors, man and woman, were tied together by a length of rope, with the women leading. The competitors covered the course as best they could, the man, with no sticks, controlling the length of rope to avoid entanglement. The winning pair were Miss Farrellv and A. Plummer, with Miss J. D. Harrison and J. C. McComish second. f
