FREEZING DISPUTE.
COMPANIES’ STATEMENT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. Tlie following statement has been issued by the North and South Island Freezing Companies’ Association : “In the statement by Hon. H. T. Armstrong on August 22, published in the leading newspapers, referring to the dispute regarding the lockers 'to be provided for workers at the Westfield freezing works, it was stated that the Labour Department had recommended lockers sft. 6in. high by 18in. wide, but the companies went on building a smaller locker notwithstanding. This statement is capable of misunderstanding, and the committee, representing all the New Zealand freezing companies, wishes to state most definitely that, to the best of its knowledge and belief, no such recommendation was made to any freezing company. The matter is, of course, sub judfee and the representatives of the companies are not at the moment in a position to make any further public statement cn the matter.’.’
