(From Our Own Correspondent. SHANNON,; Aug. 25. The staff of the Shannon Dairy Company held -their third annual ball in the Druids’ Hall, when over 400 persons were present. A large committee, under the. guidance of Mr Cave, had spent much time in the decoration scheme. Mr C. M. Cronquest, M. on behalf of the staff, made presentations to Mr and Mrs Cave and Mr V. Cave, in recognition of their assistance. Staff members present were: Mesdames J. Aim, in black panno velvet; C. M. Cronquest, cyclamen panno velvet; A. Richards, brown floral silk; W. Radford, senr., black floral crepe-de-chinc; 0. Tippler, white floral crepe-de-chine; H. Tippler, black waffle taffeta; W. Radforcl, junr., black taffeta with white; J. Sandison, brown maroeain; D. Fitzgerald, white floral taffeta; Misses R. Brown, gold satin; A. Moynihan, multi-coloured wonder glow; W. Brann, black matalasse; D. Smith, green taffeta; Messrs J. Aim, C. M. Cronquest, A. Richards, W. Radford, senr., O. Tippler, H. Tippler, W/ Radford, junr.,. J. Sandison, D. Fitzgerald, J. Alexander, N. Richards, N. Rotter, G. Seaton, C. Wishart, F, Trcmewan, E. Hook, C. Haley, P. Burke and. A. E. Trcmewan. Mrs Murrow has returned home from the south. Mrs J. A. Easton is spending a fortnight’s holiday at Waikanae. Mr and Mrs E. Aim, Lower Hutt. and Miss V. Aim, Patea, are visiting their parents, Mr and Mrs J. Aim. Mr D. Aitchison is home from the Teachers’ Training College, Christchurch, and Miss Mary Tayio’f who is in training at St. Faith’s, Christchurch, is visiting her mother, Mrs Waring-Taylor. Miss Thurston, of- the Correspondence School staff, Wellington, is visiting her brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs F. Thurston.
The senior Rugby championship has been won by the local team, to whom are extended congratulations. The final games in connection with the Nash Cup are now being played. Mrs W. Clough is spending a week in Wellington. Maureen Singleton and Ngaire Peach are competing in the Wellington Competitions. Mr Laurenson, Transport Commissioner, visited Shannon on Thursday and discussed matters in connection with traflio control with the Mayor and town clerk. Mr A. E. Hyde is spending a fortnight at Paraparaumu Beach.
