GIFTS FOR LEPERS.
(To the Editor). Sir.—May I be permitted through your columns to make an - appeal on behalf of the leper colony at Makogai. Recently Mr P. J. Twomey, of Christchurch, hon. collector for the Makogai Leper Fund, sent out his annual appeal for Christmas gifts, and the Palmerston North branch of Toe H has undertaken to assist locally in this appeal, the merits of which need no amplification here. The following articles are mentioned as being the most suitable type of gifts:—Musical instruments, bats, tennis rackets, etc., silks, light materials, embroidery, embroidery cottons, etc., sweets, soap, cigarettes and tobacco. Donations of money are, of course,, also welcomed. If all those who have anything to donate will kindly ring ’phones 7430 or 7036 and leave an address or communicate with the undersigned arrangements will be made to . collect all parcels, which will later lie forwarded to Mr Twomey in Christchurch. It is hoped that a generous response will be forthcoming.—l am, etc., A. R. OPIE, 150 Grey Street, Palmerston North, Hon. Sec., Toe H.
