PAHIATUA.
ST. PAUL’S CHURCH. St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. ’ Pahiatua, has the distinction of being among the first of the parishes of New ' Zealand to complete the initial year’s ' effort towards the centenary thanks- , giving fund campaign. By liquidating all local parish debts, almost £4OO 1 has been added to the Dominion-wide objective of raising £300,000. A letter has been received by Rev. A. A. Armstrong expressing the appreciation of the general executive. BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. The Bush Basketball Association representative team which is to compete in the New Zealand basketball tournament at Timaru commencing on "Wednesday, left Pahiatua to-day. The team is as .follows: Defence.—Misses R- Peebles (captain), C- Boyd, G. Bissett; emergency, Miss K. O’Brien. Centres: Misses M. Gunn (vice-captain), D. "• Henrv.; emergency. Miss. A- 3ones. Goal f Misses D. Mahoney, P. K Miller; emergency, Miss Jk°Mrs L T Russell, who is the Bush delegate to the Basketball Association conference, manages the team.
At a meeting of the Methodist Church trustees it was decided to name, the now Sunday school building Wesley Hall.
