AMERICAN INVENTION.
MECHANICAL COTTON-PICKER. MEMPHIS (Tennessee), Aug. 24. Messrs John and Mack Rust, _ inventors of a mechanical cotton-picker which it is believed will produce the greatest amount of technological unemployment ever resulting from a onepurpose invention, have announced the formation of the Rust Foundation. The inventors personally will receive only ten times the wage received by the lowest-paid employee in the factory making the machines. Their profits will go to the trust and the rehabilitation of unemployed share croppers and farm labourers .of the cottongrowing States in an .effort to make the picker a “blessing instead of a curse to displaced labour.”
