BOXING.
CALTAUX BEATS STIRLING. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Aug. 25. In a professional welterweight boxing contest at Oamaru. to-night, Vic Caltaux (Auckland) scored a knock-out in the tenth round against Don Stirling (former welterweight champion), the referee stopping the fight after Stirling had struggled to his feet and awarding t’ns decision to the Aucklander. The bout was fought at a fast pace and there were some torrid exchanges, but Stirling was unable to combat Galtaux’s tactics.
