WEST END INTERESTS.
PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION. The West End Progressive Association met laGt evening, those present being Messrs H. W. Bovis (who was appointed chairman in the absence of Mr A. Penketh), A. W. Just, A. Phillips, L. W. McEwen. J. B. Speedy, M. Cavanagh, P. A. Warren, P. S. Skeiates and W. E. Schwabe (secretary). - . . . The Takaro Progressive Association wrote suggesting that support be given to representations they were making for the provision of a radio station for Palmerston North.—Members generally agreed with the suggestion, and it was decided to write to the Minister in charge of Broadcasting giving the association’s views. The City Council wrote in reference to a letter from the association pointing out that there was difficulty in securing the services of a doctor in case of accidents, the' proposal being made by the association that the Hospital Board bo recommended to place a doctor at the service of the public. The council’s letter stated that the subject had been referred to the works committee, and a further letter, would be sent in due course.
