WAIATA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
There was a good attendance of members at the August meeting of the Waiata Women’s Institute which was held in beautiful springlike weather at Mrs Redshaw’s home on Wednesday. A welcome was exended to visitors present. A demonstration on the making of wool rugs and rugs made from waste materials, given by Mrs Sporle, of Feilding, was of particular interest to members who showed their keen appreciation. Both Mi's Gore and Mrs McLeod, continuing the golden thread serie-s, gave interesting talks. A vote of thanks was accorded Miss Bridgeman who gave a report on the conference held in Wellington. Competition results are:—Pot of marmalade: Mrs Humphreys 1. Mrs Mulholland 2 Mrs Billet 3. Paper, maclie: Mrs Redshaw 1. Mrs Simpson 2, Miss Bridgeman 3. Best flower : Mrs McLeod 1, Mrs Redshaw 2, Miss Rcdshaw 3. -
