COMING-OF-AGE.
MISS GWEN PARSONS. In honour of the twenty-first birthday of Miss Gwen Parsons, of Kairanga. an enjoyable dance w r as given by her girl friends at the Business Girls’ Club recently. Japonica and spring bulbs decorated the room. Items were given by Miss Betty Muir (tap dance) and Mr Leon Parsons (guitar solo). After the cutting of the beautiful birthday. cake, which was iced by Mrs lan Mitchell, Mr Parsons presented his daughter with a miniature gold key. Mr Keith Collinson. on behalf of the Broadway Hockey Club, presented Miss Parsons with a useful gift, congratulated her on attaining her majority, and thanked her for services always given so willingly to the club. Mr Dennis O’Brien responded on behalf of Miss Parsons, after which musical honours were accorded.
Miss Parsons wore a becoming frock of Eire green georgette, the dainty shirred bodice being surmounted by shoulder straps, and over, this was worn a small bolero coatee. The skirt fell in a graceful flare, which was offset by a swathed belt of violet velvet ribbon. A clhster of violets at the waist and another in her hair completed a very chic ensemble. Among those present were: Mrs SParsons (mother of the guest of honour) , who wore a model gowii of black lace and georgette and a black chiffon velvet coatee; Mesdames C. O’Brien, black shadow lace, with .matching coatee; Newton Smith, ice blue taffetas; F. Pliinnier, green floral georgette; I. Mitchell, blue star-dust crepe ;D. Stone, floral georgette; S. Cheetliam, black lacquered net; J. Major, blue georgette, cherry sash; G. Keating, black chiffon velvet; G- Mitchell, Marina green matalasse; M. O’Farrell, black velvet; Misses B. Thompson, scarlet and black check ripple silk; R. Rutledge,. lilac check organdie; S. Thompson, black satin; I. Rutledge, blue figured chiffon; M.Foulkes, striped brown georgette; 1.
