GIFT EVENING.

A bright and happy time was spent, last evening, at the residence or Mr and Mrs W. A. Sutherland, when Miss Margaret Thomsbri, who is shortly to be bridesmaid at the marriage of'Miss Hazel Koehler to Mr C. Purton, entertained some thirty guests at a gift evening for the bride-to-be The time passed all too quickly with dancing and competitions, the latter being won by Mrs Clinton, Miss L. Gough, Mr Pnrton and Mr W. Rumsay. Miss Thomson wore a black spotted net redingote over pink satin, and Miss Koehler was in mauve taffeta.

Among those present were Mrs Clinton, Misses B. Purton. H'. Koehler, L. Gough, B. Needham, D. Thomson, T. Koehler, M. Burling, M. Simpson, N. Carruthers, and Messrs C. Purton, W. Rumsay. C. Clinton. T. Hopcroft. T. Brown, R.. Wright, G. Jackson, J. Todd and others. Miss Koehler was the recipient of many useful gifts, for which Mr Purton thanked those present. He also thanked Miss Thomson for giving them such a jolly evening.
