NEW ZEALAND INTEREST. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON., Aug. 24. “This year marks the sixtieth anniversary of the opening of the Canadian National Exhibition, which is held annually in Toronto during the latter part of August and early September,” said the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. D. G. Sullivan). “The Canadian National Exhibition each year attracts visitors to the number of 2,000.000 during the two weeks it is open and affords an excellent opportunity for New Zealand firms to introduce their products to the Canadian market and the markets of the United States,” said the Minister. “This year will mark the ninth consecutive occasion on which New Zealand has participated, and the exhibition is to be opened by lami Stanley, Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs.

“A departure from previous opening ceremonies is to be, a message from Lord Stanley addressed to the Prime Ministers, of British Dominions, to which, answer will be made, and it is anticipated that through the courtesy of Cable and Wireless, Ltd., the entire message, with the replies, will be in the hands of Lord Stanley four minutes after dispatch by him of his message. The distance covered will .be 44,277 miles by cable and 0999 miles by land lines, a total of 51,165 miles. This, the most ambitious scheme ever attempted by cable, is in line with the theme of the special British Government exhibit—communication and transportation.”
