SUBSTANTIAL VOLUME.

STOCK EXCHANGE BUSINESS. In pleasing contrast to the meagre trading of recent days, a considerable volume of business was recorded yesterday on the Wellington Stock Exchange. There was a substantial turnover of 3i p.c. and 4 p.c. Government stocks at unchanged rates. Apart from New Zealand and South British Insurance shares which were unchanged the general tendency of other sales was at easier rates. Sales recorded yesterday on the Wellington Stock Exchange were as follow :
