PRISON SENTENCE.
A DUNEDIN CASE. Per Press Association, DUNEDIN, Aug. 24. A Luger automatic pistol enclosed in a big holster strapped to small butt, which with the addition of a magazine could transform the weapon into a miniature machine-gun capable of discharging, about 60 cartridges, was produced in the Police Court, to-day, when Ivor Robert Prescott, aged 41, admitted charges of being found in possession of an unlawful weapon and stealing a mat and a pair of shoes. Counsel said the automatic was a war souvenir which was left with accused by its former owner. Accused was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment on the theft charge and ordered to come up for sentence within six months for being in possession of the automatic, which tlie Magistrate directed to be forfeited.
