MISS KERNOT’S UPHILL FIGHT. ■ SYDNEY, Aug. 24. Miss -Kernot staged a sensational uphill fight to beat the New South Wales junior champion, Miss Crago, on the nineteenth green in a semi-final of the women’s Australian golf championship, which was played in inclement weather to-day. Miss Kernot was 5 down at the seventh. but fought back to sequarc the match at the sixteenth. She won on the nineteenth. In the other serpi-final Miss Ebert, with magnificent approaches and putting, beat Mrs Robinson, 5 and 4. Miss Kernot will meet Miss Ebert to-mor-row over 36 holes. Mrs Crombie, of New Zealand, with a handicap of 6, finished 1 down to win the 18-hole bogey competition. Anhther New Zealander. Miss Illston, with a handicap of 30, was runner-up—2 down.
