PIG BREEDERS

MANAWATU-0 ROUA BRANCH. JUNIOR JUDGES ADVOCATED. The monthly meeting of the Mana-watu-Oroua branch _of the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association was held to-day, Mr W. A. Davison presiding. Also present were Messrs G. M. Whitelock, W. P. Bickers, B. Zurclier, E. P. Nielsen, H. E. Thurston, W. C. Scott, C. S. Hunt, O. P. Burmeister, N. Pedersen, O. C. Larsen, W. L. West, H. E. Fieldhouse, and L. Hansen. The chairman extended a welcome to Messrs Scott, Burmeister, Larsen, Hansen and Pedersen, new members on the committee. Messrs Thurston and N. P. Nielsen were appointed an inspection committee in connection with the branch sale, next month. These gentlemen acted last year, and they were accorded a vote of thanks for their services, given free of charge to the branch. The Wanganui A. and P. Association, in a letter, asked that judges be recommended for the big classes at their Show, and it was decided to forward the names of Messrs Thurston and Davison. It was further decided that Mr Pedersen be recommended to the New Zealand Council as a junior judge, and, provided he is accepted, his name will go forward to the Wanganui A. and P. Association as a junior judge. Mr Thurston expressed disappointment that the Manawatu A. and P. Association had not appointed junior judges. “It is the only way we have of educating our senior judges of the future,” h© said, and he moved that the association be asked to reconsider its decision.

The motion was seconded by Mr Whitelock and carried.
