SCOUTS’ CONCERT.
Held with a view 'to augmenting the funds of the All Saints’ Scout ,Troop and Cub Pack, a concert, organised by Acting-Dominion Cubmaster L. G. Callis, attracted a large audience and' was a huge success.
The detailed programme -was as follows:—Opening song. “Gentlemen, the King,” the' group; piano solo. Scout W. Dalton • vocal solo, Miss M. Penketh; selections. Manawatu PianoAccordeon Band; playette', “Pan and the Agenda,” Cubs; sea shanties (on the upper deck of an old-time merchant vessel). Scouts; play, “A Night of Adventure at Dr. Bracken’s School.” Scouts; recitation. Miss Valmai Dalton; vocal solo, Mr Rowe ; guitar solo, Scout D. Black: band,Harmonica Rascals; song,. “Airs. Twinley.” The final item was very popular, a female impersonator being introduced as a member of the Townswomen’s Guild Glee Circle. .
.The’ plays were produced by Cubmistress G Andrews and Scoutmaster Callis, while Mr S. Panting trained the singers and played the accompaniments.
Opportunity was taken at the conelusion of the concert by Canon G. Y. Woodward, president of the All Saints’ Scout Troop Committee, ,to return thanks to the audience. He congratulated the contributors to the very delightful: programme. .. and paid a tribute to those who had organised the function. ' Later the performers were, entertained at supper by the committee.
