ACTION FOR DAMAGES.
Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL. June 24. A defence to Mr Alfred William Jones’s writ. claiming £SOO J damages from the Mayor, Mr, John Miller, for alleged slander, was filed in the Supreme Court to-day. The writ was served oil the Mayor on June 13. The action arose as a result of alleged remarks made'by the Mayor at a meeting of the Invercargill City Council, of which Mr Jones is a member, on June 7
