MARTON; June 22. A gathering took place at the residence of Mrs Mb Frederick, of Wellington Road, when relatives assemb'ed to celebrate her 81st birthday. A large cake decorated with golden horseshoes occupied a prominent place-- on the table. Among those present were Mr and Mrs S. Frederick, Mr and Mrs H. Frederick. Mre Hogg (Wellington), Mr and Mrs Daue .and Miss M. Frederick. In a five-a-side tournament at Wangaehu last evening, the Marton .Miniature Rifle Club were beaten by a margin of 20 points. Scores were ,as follow: —Wansaehu: J. Kelly., 70—70 —140; B. Goile. 08—67 —135; S. Holmes. 66—68—134; B. Travers. 66 —66 —132; C. Baldwin, 65 —66 —131; total, 672. Marton: E. Hegglun, 66 69 —135; R. Hammond. 68—67 —135; R, Lewis. 67—66—133: A. Clark 64 67—131: P. Fredrich, 61 —57 —118; total, 652.
