THE AUSTRIAN DEBT.
ANGLO-GERMAN 'TALKS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 22. Dr. E. Weihl, of the German Foreign Office, who heads the German delegation for the Anglo-German financial and economic negotiations with reference to the Austrian debt, had a preliminary talk to-day with Sir Frederick Leith-Ross (Chief ■ Economic Adviser to the Government). It is understood that the object ol the visit was to exchange views on a basis on which definite negotiations between the two delegations could be resumed. QUESTION IN COMMONS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 23. The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir John Simon) was asked in the House of Commons what action he was taking in view of the declared default of Germany on the Austrian loans. He said that, as negotiations were now taking place in London with representatives of Germany, he was not at present in a position to make any further statement. Dr. Weihl and Sir Frederick LeithRoss had further conversations to-day relative to the Austrian debt question.
