Jeanes (Australian manager) states that Chipperfield’s finger is not fractured. A decision as to whether he w.ill participate further will be made after an examination tomorrow. Mr Howard Marshall, writing in the Daily Telegraph, says Hammond carried England from disaster to security. With. Hammond in such form, England’s chance of regaining the Ashes will increase considerably. QUEUE BEFORE MIDNIGHT. INTEREST IN TEST. Received June 25, 1.35 p.m. LONDON, June 24. A queue began to form at the turnstiles at Lord’s before midnight. The weather is close and muggy, but the Weather Bureau, although predicting some rain in the South of England, does not think it is likely to be sufficient to interfere with the match.
