TOO SLOW

ANGLO-AUSTRALIAN LINERS. "I ■ ... ' ..: SPEEDING-UP URGED. NEGOTIATIONS IN LONDON. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received ' May 27, 9.25 , a.m. LONDON, May 26. It is hoped as soon as -possible to speed up the liner services between England and Australia. It is understood that, with the Orient Co.’s and the P. and 0. Co.’s replacements of their older ships virtually completed, faster schedules will be possible than the existing ones, which have been unchanged for many years. The question was recently raised in the House of Commons,' especially by members of the House who have lately visited Australia, and who were surprised to discover that the; voyage from London to Melbourne still takes five weeks. The members of the Australian trade delegation had also interested themelves in the question, and there will be a general, discussion on shipping problems to-night, when they will be the guests of Sir Alan Anderson (manager) and the directors of the Orient Co., who have invited leading shipping and industrial representatives to dine with them, after which there will bo informal discussions.
