YOUNG FARMERS
DISTRICT EXECUTIVE. EDUCATIONAL TOUR. A meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Young Farmers’ Clubs’ district. committee was held yesterday afternoon', Mr H. J. Lancaster presiding over an attendance of 14. Advice was received from the Massey Agricultural College that a short course in dairy farming would be given shortly at the College. The Wellington District Pig Council advised that Mr W. J. Croucher had been appointed the council’s representative on the Young Farmers’ Clubs’ district committee.—Received. It was decided to forward a letter of appreciation to the Manawatu Automobile Association for advice given and courtesies shown in connection with the forthcoming educational tour.
It was reported that 140 members would be takig part in the tour. Arrangements were made for six buses to take the party, which will leave Palmerston North on the morning of May 31. Mr E. W. Barnett has been appointed leader. In connection with the “Cavalcade of Agriculture” to be staged at the Winter Show on Thursday, June 16, the secretary reported that already about fifty implements had been promised, ranging from the very oldest types up the modern farm machinery. A committee consisting of Messrs A. J. Galpin, F. Sherwood, D. T. Rowlands and the secretary was set up to arrange for other implements and to draw up the order of the procession. Arrangements for the dance to be held in conjunction with the Jersey Breeders’ Club were made, and plans were set in train for co-operating with the A. and P. Association in the successful organisation of childreen’s day at the Show.
