QUIET TRADING.

WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE. RESUMPTION AFTER VACATION. After tho Easter vacation of one week the stock and share markets reopened quietly yesterday. Trading was dull, and n small turnover was reorded. ' Little interest was shown in any section, and the general tone was dull, with an easier tendency. Sales of (lie 4 per cent. Government stock, 1949, at £lO2 2s 6d to £lO2 5s were the only dealings in gilt-edged securities, which were as slack as any other section. Bank shares were dull and little changed. Golds!) rough Molt were weak at 30s, sellers 30s Bd. P. and O. deferred stock was wanted at 265, but sellers kept out. Tho only inquiry in the insurance section was for National at. 17s 7d.
