Street sellers of poppies appeared to be doing good business to-day when practically everyone in the town was wearing an emblem. The municipal elections in the Feilding district next month are likely to prove interesting. Several councillors are not seeking re-election to the Borough Council, and there are several nominees for the vacancies including, it is understood, one woman candidate. The present Feilding representatives on the Alanawatu Oroua Electric Power Board and the Palmerston North Hospital Board, are also likely to meet with competition. To date there are two nominations for the Mayoralty. Bain accompanied by heavy peals of thunder commenced in Feilding yesterday and continued steadily throughout the afternoon. Mr N. Gibsone, who for the past 18 years lias been a member of the staff of the local sash and door factory, was the recipient of a presentation on the eve of his departure for Palmerston North, where he has been appointed to a position. The presentation was made by Mr J. H. Thompson, who asked Air Gibsone’s acceptance of a rug. A cheque and a ease of cutlery were the presents received by Air E. J. White from the management and staff of a local flour mill on the occasion of his marriage. Air Crooke (man-

ager) and Mr W. Kilford expressed good wishes to Mr White for liis future Happiness.
