2700 GISBORNE COWS,

During the 12 months just ended, over 2700 dairy cows in the Gisborne district were tested for tuberculosis, and approximately 6 per cent were condemned. -• The increase in the cows tested over the previous 12 months was about 1000, while a few years before that the number tested was negligible. A simpler method has been partly responsible for larger numbers having come forward for testing. During the 1936-37 period, 5.91 per cent of the 1700 cows tested were condemned, while the percentage of condemned cows during the 12 months just closed was slightly higher.
