(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIRANGA, April 20. The junior Jubilee Committee held another very successful “back to childhood.’ There was a largo crowd present. An extra was played by Miss King and Mr Ramsay. Novelties were distributed. .Miss M. Thomson and Mr S. Griggs wero judged the winners of the best, costumes. A lucky dance was won by Miss Gilden and Mr Bond. . , . , Miss Freda Eglinton has returned home after spending a holiday in Auckland. Miss Jean Eglinton, of Auckland, is staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs P. Eglinton. Alia Y. R. Krivan, of Oniki. has returned home
after spending a few days with Mr and Mrs L. Clark. Miss M. Adams and Miss R. Lancaster, of Christchurch, spent the weekend with Mr and Airs' H. Turner. A'liss Lancaster, of Takapau, also spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs Turner. Mr and Airs Smith and Mr Crump, of Wellington, were the guests of Air and Aire G. Davey for the week-end. Mr and Airs E. Hunt and family, of Palmerston North, are staying with Air and Airs C. Hyde. Aliss Hill, of Bulls, is spending a holiday with Aliss J. Newman. Airs L. Turner, of Putaruru, is spending a few days with All* and AJis H. Turner.
Canals in Britain are being modernised. Alore than £1,000,000 has been spent-on 300 miles of these inland waterways.
