GOLDEN WEDDING.
A very happy function took place in Marton on Monday, when Mr and Mrs I David Gibson,' old and respected residents of the district, celebrated their golden wedding. The couple were the recipients of many felicitations' from a large number of friends. Members of the family present were Mr and Mrs A. Gibson (Marton), Mr and Mrs M. Anderson and son (Parewanin'), Air and Mrs J. Gibson and daughter (Kaponga), Sir and Mrs J. Gibson and children (Kaponga), Mrs D. Gibson and son and daughter (Kaponga), Mr and Mrs M. Wysocki (Marton), ‘Mr and Mrs H. Galpin and Mist Shirley Galpin (Tutaenui), Mr and Mrs A. Gibsoii (Feilding), and Mr W. D. , Brown (Marton), who is an intimate , friend of Mr and Mrs Gibson.
Mr Gibson formerly came from Edinburgh, Scotland, and Mrs Gibson, then Miss Margaret Paterson, from GlasI gow, Scotland. They were married in AAAnganui on April 18, 1888, ’at the residence of Mr M. D. Blair, Brunswick, by Bev. Alex Thomson. The couple went fanning in various places in the Taranaki district, going to Rangitikei about 35 years ago to farm in the 'jlutaomii district. After serving on the land for some 18 years in that district, Mr Gibson went into retirement and settled in .Humphrey Street, Marton, where he resides to-day and continues to take an active interest in farming topics and horticulture.
