FARM TRAGEDY.
COLLAPSE OF DRAIN. Per Press Association. TE AWAMUTU, April 20. Shortly beforo noon to-day a wellknown farmer, Arthur Thomas Bryant, aged 37, of Orakau, was working in a concrete drain on his farm when the sides collapsed and a heavy block of concrete fell on his head. Death was practically instantaneous. It was about an hour before the body could be extricated. Mr Bryant was a married man with three young children, and had resided at Orakau for several years. He was a son of Mr J. T. Bryant, of Matangi, and he took an active part in local affairs, being president of the Te Awamutu branch of the Farmers’ Union and chairman of the Ivihikihi School Committee.
