(From Our Own Correspondent.) UMUTOI. March 3. Mrs A. Haynes and family, accompanied by Mrs Faulks and family, of Ashhurst, arc at present holidaying at Foxton Beach. Mrs L. Sixtus has returned to Uinutoi North after spending a week’s holiday with friends in Palmerston North. An enjoyable time was spent on the local tennis court last Saturday, when a friendly match was played between the local team and the Aoiti B team. A committee meeting of the Umutoi Tennis Club was field in .the schoolroom, the president (Mr C. Proctor) presiding over a full attendance. .Much gratification was expressed at the interest being taken in the ladder and silver badge competitions, and in connection, with the latter it was decided to request tho match ecmniittoe to make any necessary adjustments to the handicaps. The secretary (Mr H. MacKenzie) was empowered to make arrangements for games with neighbouring clubs. Tho match committee was requested to make the draw for the club championships, ladies and men. It was decided to ask Mr L. Hcnunings to fill the vacancy on tho men's committee. The matter of putting a floor in the pavilion, wits discussed and it was decided to lay down a concrete floor at the end of the season. Mr C. Searle was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for pacing bis court at tho club’s disposal, and Mr and Mrs Procter for their assistance with the catering on match days.
