Zealand,” said the Minister for Trade and Commerce (Mr T. AV. AVhite) today. Australian manufacturers bad the opportunity of beginning operations in New Zealand as some already have done. Examination of the provisions of the new trade pact, which operated to-day, showed increases in 6b items of Australian exports. Mr White said that the negotiations had led to a better understanding in the two countries. The old controversy of citrus versus potatoes was satisfactorily settled. Len-nox-Bigger said that Australia had no cause for complaint against the duties on manufactures because New Zealand was only adopting the Australian policy of encouraging local secondary industries.
