(•From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, March 1. An enjoyable time was spent on Saturday afternoon when a tennis match was played between the Ashhurst and Aokautero tennis teams on the local courts. During the early part of the afternoon the sun was shining brightly and it was very warm, but later the sky clouded over and rain threatened. Fortunately, the match was concluded before the rain came. Afternoon tea was served in the supper room of the Town Hall by the ladies present. Results, Aokautcrc players being the winners by nine sets to 7: —Ladies’ singles: Miss K Brewer lost to Mbs E. Anderson, 5—6; Miss Cl. Eaton lost to Miss M. Anderson, 2—6; Miss L. Gavigan. lost to J. Anderson, 2—6; Miss V. Muldrock lest to Miss J. Brill, o—6. Men’s singles: J. Borrett beat J. Woodley, 6—2: N. Brewer lost to W. S. Anderson, 2 —6: G. Gavigan beat E. Judd, 6—2: G. Gavigan beat W. Anderson, 6—2. Ladies’, doubles: ■Misses Brewer and Eaton beat Misses E. and M. Anderson, 6 —4: Misses Gavigan and Muldrock lost to Misses I. Anderson and Brill, 4 —6. Men’s doubles: Borrett and Brewer beat Woodley and S. Anderson. 6 —2; G. Gavigan and Brewer heat Judd and W. Anderson. £ —3. Mixed doubles: Miss Brewer and Brewer lost to AI iss E.
