(From Our Own Correspondent. 1 OTAKI, March 1. Mr and Mrs Young, of Blenheim, are the guests of Mr and Mm F. L. Young, of Otaki. Mr A. Safhcrley is at present in the Palmerston North Hospital for special treatment. Mr and Mrs F. Watford have left for the south on account of the serious illness of the latter’s father. Miss Maisie Noble, who attained her twenty-first birthday on Friday, was entertained by a number of relatives and friends at a party. Miss Noble, who was the recipient of many valuable .presents, was also congratulated on her engagements, several eulogistic speeches being made. At the social gathering held at fhe Catholic Parish Ilall the ladies’ fiml urize was won by Mrs Twist with Mrs Mahi Hakaraia second. For the- men’s prize four tied and Messrs X. Lima and B. King divided it.
The possibilities are that under proposed legislation all meat for (he Foxton,
Levin, and Otaki districts will have lo be killed at the Levin municipal abattoir. The Levin Borough Council has considered recommendations from a special committee set up relative to a large programme of extensions arid additions to the existing works. The scheme was approved, and the estimated cost of the work runs into four figures.
