MARCH ON VIENNA? NAZIS FROM STYRIA TROOPS RUSHED TO BORDER. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received February 28, 9.50 a.m. GRAZ, Fob. 27. As an instance of the state of European nerves, the Austrian authorities have rushed mechanised units to Graz from Vienna following a rumour that 40,000 Nazis from the province of Styfia intended to march on Vienna. The forces occupied all strategic points around Vienna, over which aeroplanes were encircling. LOYAL AUSTRIANS. GREAT DEMONSTRATION. LONDON, Feb. 26. “Swear with us that Austria shall live for ever,” was the slogan of a 'torchlight procession involving 35,000 persons in one of the greatest demonstrations in Salzburg’s history, says the Vienna correspondent of the Daily Telegraph. They marched to the very frontiers of Germany to show loyalty to Austrian independence, completely eclipsing the Nazi procession of 15,000 persons on February 22. The success was mainly attributable to the enthusiasm created by Dr. Schuschnigg’s speech, but also to the decrease of Nazi adherents owing to the knowledge of Germany’s economic plight, ’lens of thousands of hands were uplifted in fealty to Austria in i*esponse to the slogan. Nazis did not daro to disturb the procession. The Government has announced that the offices of provincial leader of the Fatherland Front and provincial governor have been united in Styria, Salzburg, Tyrol, Lower Austria and Voralberg, which the Nazis regard as strengthening the Fatherland Front, although Herr Hugo Jury notable Nazi and ex-commander of Storm Troops, has been appointed as Dr Inquart’s deputy as Controller of the Political Department of the Fatherland Iront, which was established in order to conciliate the Nazis and incorporate them in the Fatherland Irontj states a Vienna message.
