BOY DROWNED.

BOAT CAPSIZES. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 27. A boy of nine years was drowned, and his companions were saved only by the prompt action of bystanders when their frail saling craft capsized in Freeman’s Bay to-day. The victim was Albert Henry Metcalfe. THROWN FROM PONY. POLO PLAYER HURT. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Feb. 28. Serious injuries were sustained by Mr lan MacKenzie, of Havelock North, when his pony fell during a polo match on Saturday. Dir MacKenzie was removed to hospital suffering from severe concussion. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, Feb. 28. John Alfred Moon, aged 19, of Burnley Terrace, Auckland, was drowned in a creek at Oakleigh yesterday. Deceased and two others went swimming. Deceased was diving and he was seen swimming naturally, but then it was noticed that his head was under the water and he disappeared. It is thought that lie struck a snag in the river bottom. The body was recovered two hours later.\ DISLOCATED NECK. MAN FOUND DEAD. Per Press Association. ■ . GREYMOUTH, Feb. 28. John Ross Black Adder, aged 29. was found dead with a dislocated neck at his father’s farm at Alfred River. Maruia, yesterday. Deceased had been mustering cattle and failed to return. He was found by a search party. Mr Adder’s is the second death in the family within a fortnight.
