BUTTER BOXES.

IMPROVED TYPE. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 28. “The dairy produce general regulations, which are being consolidated, will,” states the Minister of Agriculture (Hon. W. Lee Martin), “contain provision for improvements in the saranac type of butter box in respect to which complaints have been made that it is not providing adequate protection against mould growth, while the looseness of its structure permitted the entry of dust and dirt. Provision, therefore, is being made that, on and after August 1, export butter will be packed in a sub-standard box of fin ends and fin sides. The tops and bottoms of all boards must be planed. The regulations will also enforce an improved system of nailing.”
