JAPAN IN THE PACIFIC.

At the present moment there are 200,000 Russian troops massed on the borders of Manchuria and Siberia. Opposite them is a Japanese force. The immediate danger is a war between Japan and the Soviet Union. A standing dapger is a war between the United States and Japan precipitated by a fundamental clash of interests. The all-important factor is the economic situation. The Far East is the only undeveloped market in the world open to Western expansion. For decades the trade of the Great Powers has been increasing in the Far East. A bid for ascendancy and monopoly is being made by Japan. The occupation of Manchuria and all that followed, including the recent attempt to order Europe and America to keep hands off China, is Japan’s declaration of intention. Nothing but force will restrain her determination. The economic consequences to Europe and America will be disastrous, and 'furthermore a greater part of the world will fall under Japanese domination. This is not a sudden and accidental development. The East is advancing. Japan is in the vanguard. This is the problem which Jas. Alexandre Lawson will deal with on Sunday night in the MeteOr Theatre at 7.45. Community singing Will precede the leoturo. The doors open at 7 p.m.
