JAPANESE WHALING.
REPRESENTATION AT CONFERENCE. TOKIO, Feb. 5. It is stated that Japanese whaling interests have decided to send an observer to the 1938 International Conference, if invited to do so by the other Powers, provided Japanese coastal whaling is exempted from restrictions. The whale oil taken from the Antarctic by Japanese vessels has so far been sold mostly to Holland and England, but it is reported that whaling companies are negotiating for the sale of upwards of 100,000 tons of this year’s production to Germany.
