FOWL WHEAT PRICES.

SUPPLIES FOR NORTH ISLAND. ARRANGEMENTS REACHED. WELLINGTON, Feb. 25. The Minister of , Industries and Commerce (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) announced last night that by arrangement with the South Island Brokers' Advisory Committee the following prices had been agreed upon for fowl wheat for the present season:— Buying price Soiling prices from growers, F.o.b. Ex store F.o.b. Whole- for 5sale. sack lots

The f.o.b. wholesale price applied to 50-sack lots or more, and was for delivery to f.o.b. either overline or through store, or at the equivalent price if the wheat was stopped short of fo.b. —i.e., if delivered ex rail Christchurch. the unexpended f.o.b. was to be deducted, Mr Sullivan said. The monthly increments ivere designed to : compensate merchants fqr holding wheat in store. It would he noticed that the Wheat Committee had arranged for the buying price of fowl wheat to be 4d a bushel less than milling wheat, which had been fixed on March Tuscan basis at os 9d a bushel. “At the moment it is difficult to estimate liow much fowl wheat there will he available from the present drop,” Mr Sullivan said, “hut if there should be a shortage of this class of wheat, I shall make arrangements with the Wheat Committee for the release of milling wheat for poultry purposes, at the prices fixed for milling wheat plus brokerage. “The above arrangements apply to the South Island only. On account of tlie shortage of New Zealand wheat it is necessary to import all North Island requirements from overseas, and arrangements have been made to supply the North Island with Australian milling wheat which is being sold, to merchants at 6s 4d on the wharf, main ports, sacks "included.” An agreement had been reached with the North Island merchants whereby poultry-keepers could secure 10-sack lots or more at 6s 7d on the wharf, main ports, sacks included, the Minister added.
