BREACH OF LAW.
DOG-RACING IN INDIA. CALCUTTA, Feb. 9. After becoming enthusiastic supporters of dog-racing, high officials in Bengal discovered that they were breaking the law, and the promoter was forced to close the track.
The Prime Minister, Fazul Hug, bought a greyhound and officially opened the course. The superintendent of police supplied constables to control the traffic and guard the totalisator. Cabinet Ministers and High Court Judges were active supporters of the sport, but they discovered that betting could be applied only to horse races under the law.
