EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” FEBRUARY 23, 1908. At a meeting of the Palmerston North High School Board the rector had mentioned the desirability of having a residence erected for male boarders at the school. The matter was held over. The Russian Government had decided to spend £49,000,000 over four years on building up a navy. At the Masterton ram fair the top price for Romneys had been 6igns. The annual meeting of the Manawatu A. and P. Association had elected Mr J. Arbon president and Messrs W. T. Wood, M.P., S. R. Lancaster, E. Short and J. G. Harkness vicepresidents. The Manawatu polo team had defeated Parewanui hysix goals to one. Levin was outstanding plaver was Manawatu and McKelvie for Parewanui. The Palmerston Brass Band had left for the contest at New Plymouth upder Conductor Pickering and-Drum-Major Perrin.
