(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, Feb. 21. Heavy rain on Saturday morning was responsible for the postponement of the Gospel Hall piciiic which was to have been held at I’almcmton North. The Tennis Club was the only sports body to carry on, the courts being dry enough for play in the afternoon. Rongotea B team with 15 sets and 95 games beat Sanson, 1 set and 47 games. The following arc tho results, Rongotea players being mentioned first Men’s singles, R. Morrison beat J. Bradley, 11. Gooch beat A. Nesbitt, W. Churchill beat Iv. Lunisdcn, ,'E. Brabrant boat Ken Lunisdcn; women’s singles, Bliss J. Eadcs beat Blrs Leitch, Bliss J. Caverhill lost to Miss Adams, Blrs Tegg beat Bliss Davey, Bliss Fraser beat Bliss Blurphy; men’s doubles, Blorrison and Gooch beat Bradley and Keith Lunisdcn, Churchill and Brabant beat Ken Lumsdcn and Nesbitt; women’s doubles, Blisses Eades and Caverhill boat Mrs Leitch and Bliss Adams, Blrs Tegg and Bliss Fraser boat Blisses Blurphy and Davy; mixed doubles, Blorrison and Bliss Earics beat Bradley and Mrs Leitch, Gooch and Bliss Caverhill beat Keith Lumsdcn and Mrs Adams, Churchill and Blrs Tegg beat Nesbitt and Miss Davy, Brabant and Bliss Fraser beat Ken Bumsden and Bliss Blurphy. Next week-end the Palmerston North Broadway team will play a return match with the Rongotea Club. The following will represent the club: R. Scott, H. Churchill, R. Blorrison, G. Tucker, W. A. Churchill and R. Gooch, Blisses G. and J. Eadcs, 81. Scott and Blesdames Davison and Boivator. At tho February meeting of the Rongotea Women’s Institute it was decided that at the next meeting tho competition will be for a child’s frock to cost not more than 3s. After being judged theso will go to the group meeting which will be held on the following day, and ultimately be distributed at various children’s homes. In view of the abnormal weather conditions during recent weeks, several Rongotca residents have made a practice of noting tho temperature on days of exceptional warmth; 86 degrees have been registered quite often, but Sunday broke the record, various estimates placing tho temperature at from 92 to 96 degrees. Blushrooms are being gathered in qualities following the rains; there have not been so many for some years. Blrs T. Collins is spending a holiday at Wanganui.
