PERSONAL.

After being confined to his home at Dunedin for a week with illness, Dr. D. G. McMillan, M.P., has been removed to a private hospital for treatment.

Mr G. C. Israel, M.Sc., A.1.C., A.1.C.N.Z., whose home is in Invercargill, has received an appointment as lecturer in chemistry at the Hobart University and the Hobart Technical College. Mr H. J. Lancaster, of Glen Oroua, and Mr Iv. A. Henderson, of Palmerston North, have been appointed members of the Manawatu-Wellington District Rural Intermediate Credit Board, the former in succession to the late’ Mr D. Buchanan and the latter replacing Mr R. S. Abraham, who resigned his seat.

The distinction of being the “father” of the South African Union House of Assembly belongs to Mr C. P. Robinson, member for Durban, who with Mrs Robinson, arrived at Wellington today on a visit to both islands prior to returning to Australia to attend the sesquicentenary celebrations, says a Press Association message. For the past 32 years without a break Mr Robinson has been Parliamentary representative for Durban, first in the Natal Parliament, and since the Union in 1910 as a member of the House of Assembly. His visit is purely a pleasure trip.
