RYELAND RAMS.

AUSTRALIAN SIIKEP IMPORTED. Included in recent importations of stud stock from Australia are two high class stud Ryeland rams bred by Mr J. \\ . McIntosh, of Rurnwood, Mcrrigum, Victoria. These sheep wore selected by the chief livestock officer of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Coy., Ltd., during a recent visit to Australia, and have been imported on behalf of Messrs Voss Longburn, Palmerston North, and Air I. R. Starky, Toa Toa, Ray of Plenty. Burnwood M 9, purchased on account of Messrs Voss Bros., was sired by Rurnwood Stylo and is out of an imported blood ewe, Rurnwood C2. This shearling ram was awarded reserve championship at the recent Melbourne Sheejibreeders’ Show, beating many older rams, a number of which had been imported from England. Stylish and full of quality, both in the carcase and - wool, with a particularly attractive head and splendid hams. M 9 should prove a valuable addition -to the Ryeland sheep in tiie Dominion, particularly as he comes from one of the greatest prize winning families in Australia. Mr E. R. Starky’s ram is another very handsome, deep bodied animal of outstanding merit,. Shown in a class of 23 at the last Melbourne Royal Show, he was awarded third prize. Out of a prizo winning ewe bred in the Rurnwood Stud this young ram, M 5, is also by Rurnwood Style; he gives the impression that he will develop into a sire that will leave deep bodied, evenly fleshed stock.
